ISO 50002 Energy Audit – Requirement with Guidances for Use
ISO 50002:2014 specifies the process requirements for carrying out a proper energy audit to identify current energy performance and potential energy performance improvement measures. It is applicable to all types of establishments and organizations, and all forms of energy and energy use. ISO 50002:2014 specifies the principles of carrying out energy audits, requirements for the common processes during energy audits, and deliverables for energy audits.
ISO 50002:2014 does not address the requirements for evaluation of the competence of bodies providing energy audit services, and it does not cover the auditing of an organization’s energy management system. Energy audit and energy management system internal audit are different, this standard guided energy audit process.
ISO 50002 provided a guidances on the required competence of an energy auditor including its personal conduct, the guidelines also stressed the important of impartiality of an auditor. Preparing and audit proses is critical to the audit proses, the scope and boundary of energy audit should be defined in advance. The audit preparation including defining measurement plan will determine the audit time and schedule. Conducting the field visit and knowing exactly what data required and ensuring its adequacy and quality will determine the audit result. Analysis of the data acquired and writing a proper report is one of key activity shall be mastered by energy auditor.
